How to break the habit of picking at acne?

My friend has bad acne and is constantly picking at it. I’ve told her many times that picking at it isn’t gonna help, but she says it’s a bad habit that she does involuntarily. How can i get her to stop?

When people physically see a pimple they just want to have a good poke at it, it helps to cover it up.
Take her out to body shop or somewhere they sell concealers that contain tea tree oil in them so the spot can be covered and the oil will help get rid of it.
Also, “Clearisel Ultra Rapid Cream” is good to get rid of pimples.
She probably has pimples because she has oily skin which is a normal type of skin so she could try “Rimmel Matte Powder” if shes into makeup -it will help absorb the oil keeping her matte throughout the day (4 hours max).

So my basic answer is: Help her get rid of the spot!
If you guys like sleepovers then get a “tea tree oil” face mask, it will help with all the acne!

    Goodluck.

You could also get her to cut her finger nails really short so that she can’t cut or damage her skin while picking at it.

this may sound a little extreme, but there are actually therapists that can help her with that problem if she can’t stop on her own. you can also tell her to just picture how bad she’s going to look when the acne goes away for the rest of her life from the scarring.

I am 32 years old and I still pick my face. It’s a really bad habit and I am better than I used to be. It’s almost like it’s a stress reliever or a nervous habit. When I am nervous I will fiddle with a scab or spot on my face until it starts bleeding. When I am stressed out I’ll look in the mirror and have a go at my face. I guess it’s just like biting your nails or gritting your teeth.

The best way to help her is to treat the acne if possible. The less acne she has the less she will pick. I am guessing this a nervous habit of hers so if you see she is nervous keep her hands busy. I really don’t know what else to say because I haven’t been able to stop myself. I don’t have terrible scarring but it’s because I never had severe acne.

The idea above about keeping very short nails is a very good idea.
